Artist’s Statement

Gazing through a viewfinder, I move closer to pure experience, without the mind’s endless and all-consuming stream of thought. Photography is spiritual.

Fascinated by form and color, I often focus on the natural world. Through abstraction, I strive for rediscovery – seeing our world anew – and a deeper connection with all that is.

My photography projects tend to be multi-year efforts, each springing from and moving at a pace defined by inspiration. Applying force is counterproductive; breadth grows as impulse comes and goes.

In contrast, writing is the out-breath of my life experience. Through it, I find my place on the path forward.
